What is an overnight oximetry test?
An overnight oximetry test is a diagnostic procedure that is used by physician and practitioners to determine and evaluate a patient's blood oxygen level. This simple diagnostic test is performed in the patient's home to determine the need for home oxygen therapy or to screen patients for Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) prior to a home sleep test or In-lab sleep test.
An overnight oximetry test is a convenient and cost-effective way to measure your blood oxygen levels and heart rate. Through our company, DME/HME Suppliers drop off pulse oximeters (test equipment used to record oxygen & heart rate levels) to a patient's home for a one-night study wear the patient sleeps with the device while it records the overnight data. Once picked up from the patient's home, the DME/HME supplier will them transmit the recorded data through our HIPAA compliant servers allowing our facility to review/edit the raw data. Once completed, our office prepares a report for your physician to review with you and discuss the results.
